Om Murti Anil (Nepali: ओममूित अिनल; born 31 October 1978)[2] is a Nepalese cardiologist, social worker, author and social media influencer. He is the founder of the National Cardiac Centre and is recognized for his contributions to cardiovascular health awareness in Nepal and beyond.[3]
He conducts free heart camps and other community based health programs, providing care to thousands of underserved individuals and raising heart health awareness. He has also conducted large-scale heart risk studies to assess cardiovascular disease risks in Nepal.[4][5]
He has published two books: Ma Pani Doctor (2013) and Jiwanta Sambandha (2023). [6][7] He also founded the Dr. Om Foundation in 2023, a non-profit organization that conducts free health camps, offers scholarships to underprivileged students, and promotes social transformation through community-based initiatives. [8][9][10]
Anil has received several honors, including the Prime Minister National Talent Award for his contributions to the health sector, particularly in raising health awareness and providing remote medical services through technology,a long with the Nepal Bidhyabhusan Padak and the Suprabal Janasewa Shree– III. He has over 1.5 million followers on Facebook and more than 300,000 subscribers on YouTube, where he shares his guidance and motivational posts on leading a healthy lifestyle. [13] He also has set two world records, which includes Guinness World Records in cardiovascular health awareness. [14][15][16]
Early life and Education
Anil was born on 31 October 1978 in of Dhamaura village Mahottari district to Tej Narayan Singh and Rajakumari Devi Singh. He received his primary education there. [17] After high school, he got his degree in Janakpur. Then he completed an ISC MBBS at College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur, followed by an MD in internal medicine from Institute of Medicine, Nepal (IOM), and a DM in cardiology from Institute of All India Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Additionally, he holds fellowships from the [2] American College of Cardiology (FACC) and The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (FSCAI).[18]
Career
Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre
Anil joined the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2011 . There he played a role in establishing and running the DM Cardiology Program. He trained DM cardiology residents. [19]
Between 2011 and 2015, he also played a role in establishing and operating the catheterization laboratory (cath lab) services at the Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital, a government hospital in Kathmandu. He started emergency procedures like primary angioplasty at the Cardiothoracic Vascular & Transplant Center (MCVTC). [20]
National Cardiac Centre
Manmohan Anil founded the National Cardiac Centre in 2020 with a focus on prevention. It conducts CPR training, free health camps, and awareness activities. [21] [22] [23] It has served more than 7,000 individuals through its free heart camps to date. [24]
Dr. Om Foundation
He also founded the Dr. Om Foundation in 2023, a non-profit organization dedicated to health, education, and social transformation in Nepal. campaign, ” Smokers are not selfish.” [25] In 2024, it conducted a nationwide anti-smoking [26]In 2025, the foundation awarded scholarships totalling NPR 2 million to 60 underprivileged students across all seven provinces. [27] The foundation operates its initiatives with funding from ‘Jiwanta Sambandha’ book sales and Anil’s personal contribution. [28]
Public Health Initiatives
Anil has contributed to public health through free heart camps, health awareness programs, large scale heart risk studies, and other preventive measures. These initiatives aim to provide early detection, treatment, and public education on cardiovascular disease, reaching thousands of individuals across Nepal.[29][30][31][25]
Social Media Presence
Anil has more than 1.5 million followers on Facebook and over 275,000 YouTube subscribers. [32][33] [34]For over a decade he has used social media to raise awareness about cardiovascular health and social causes.[35]Creating his posts in response to queries from patients and followers, he offers guidance and motivation for adopting a healthy lifestyle. [36] One of his Facebook live awareness sessions earned him a Guinness World Record in cardiovascular health awareness. [37]He also participated in a radio interview series that was recognised by the World Book of Records, London.[38]
Books
In 2013, he wrote Ma Pani Doctor, “I Am Also a Doctor,” a health guide to help the public prevent and manage non-communicable diseases, especially heart ailments.[39] Launched by Nepal’s then president on World Heart Day, over 5,000 free copies were distributed to those in need, boosting health awareness. [40][35][33] His second book, Jiwanta Sambandha was released in September 2023. [41]
Personal Life
Anil is married to Manisha Baidar, who is a nurse by profession. They have two children. [42]
