National Cardiac Centre Provides CPR Training to Armed Police

The National Cardiac Centre, Basundhara, organized CPR and Basic Life Support training for the Armed Police Force and civilians on World Heart Day 2024, equipping around 250 participants with essential life-saving skills. The program, led by Senior Cardiologist Dr. Om Murti Anil, highlighted the importance of CPR in emergencies such as cardiac arrest, drowning, electric shocks, or severe injuries, noting that proper training can triple survival chances. Dr. Anil also emphasized the urgent need for Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in Nepal, which remain rare compared to developed countries. Armed Police officials praised the training for boosting confidence, decision-making, and public trust, while encouraging the expansion of such initiatives across both public and private institutions. Beyond CPR, the National Cardiac Centre regularly provides health screenings, free heart check-ups, health camps, and awareness programs to strengthen community health.
